Requirements

  • Associate or higher degree from an accredited tech school or college in electronics engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, computer engineering technology or communications technology.
  • OR Have 3-5 years prior field work experience relevant to job description or comparable work experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills necessary for customer and team interaction.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical principles and demonstrated proficiency in basic math skills.
  • Familiarity with basic computer operations and able to run common application programs such as Microsoft Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience electrical schematics and electrical troubleshooting and installations
  • Familiarity with watt-hour metering and associated equipment including installing, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of electric distribution systems, e.g., different service types and voltages.
  • Prior experience troubleshooting, verifying wiring.
  • Knowledge and experience working with the Mobile Work Management System (MWMS) application as well as other Duke applications such as Map-link, SAP, etc.
  • Prior experience with telecommunications devices (ie. Wireless, Cellular, Power Line Carrier)
  • Demonstrated problem solving and general troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of service area within reporting location.

Responsibilities

  • Perform single-phase self-contained and transformer-rated metering work including, maintenance, testing, and special meter investigations.
  • Perform polyphase self-contained metering work including, testing, and special meter investigations.
  • Perform troubleshooting, wiring verification.
  • Obtain data from metering equipment such as load profile data.
  • Perform metering material handling duties.
