About The Position

Veolia is Ireland’s leading environmental services company, providing a comprehensive range of energy, waste, and water solutions with a dedication to carbon reduction, environmental protection, and building the circular economy. This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract for a Meter Reader who will travel across Kerry collecting water consumption data for clients. The position involves three distinct metering projects, primarily using Manual Meter Reading (MMR) with some Automated Meter Reading (AMR). The Meter Reader will also support other metering projects as needed.

Requirements

• Full Clean Drivers Licence
• Good IT skills required for using online systems on tablet and handheld together with GPS equipment
• Organisational skills / Route planning
• Time Management (meeting client’s deadlines and KPI’s)
• A clear understanding of the importance of safety when undertaking Metering Services
• Good Communication Skills with a positive, innovative and collaborative team player attitude
• If an EU/EEA national, proof of right to work in Ireland will be required.
• If a non-EU/EEA national, current and valid permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland will be required.

Nice To Haves

• Commercial driving experience preferred
• Experience of Water Network Management and/or basic plumbing experience
• Local knowledge of the area is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicles along established routes to collect consumption data from meters, including manual reads, walk-by, and drive-by meter reading.
• Review routes on an android tablet for navigation and plan optimal daily routes.
• Read water meters and enter data onto hand-held devices.
• Enter a “skip” from a predefined list when a meter read cannot be achieved.
• Record any issues found on site and add photographic evidence.
• Ensure regular uploads of data for project manager and client monitoring.
• Report network concerns such as meter irregularities or impediments to meter access on the handheld device.
• Report maintenance or equipment issues to both the Veolia Project Manager and the MDMSP.
• Direct Customers to the Uisce Eireann Customer Service Centre for billing queries.
• Update GPS locations for network improvement.
• Read meters manually on non-domestic projects where AMR reading is not yet enabled.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and performance management systems, including using the Ava safety reporting platform.
• Use provided equipment to open boundary boxes, pump out chambers, and read meters.
• Read bulk meters with two people using safety lifting keys.
• Read regular water meters manually and enter data into hand-held devices.
• Ensure all client deadlines and key performance indicators are consistently met.
• Continue to meet daily/quarterly read targets.
• Contribute to continuous project improvement by working with the team to address inefficiencies and report issues promptly.
