About The Position

The City of Edinburg is seeking a dedicated Meter Reader to perform accurate reading, installation, removal, repair, and maintenance of water meters. This role is essential to the city's operations and offers an opportunity for career advancement in a rapidly growing city.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalency.
• No experience required.
• Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
• Achieve TCEQ Class "D" Water Distribution License within the first (1) year of employment.
• Achieve TCEQ Class "C" Water Distribution License within three (3) years of employment.
• Proficiency in power tools.
• Dependability.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred TCEQ Class "C" or higher Water Distribution License.
• Prefers hands-on work.
• Excellent knowledge of water meters.
• Enjoys working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate reading, installation, removal, repair, and maintenance of water meters.
• Conduct tests of water meters for accuracy and proper functioning.
• Assist in the repair of water line breaks.
• Notify customers when water will be off for repairs.
• Maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Complete daily work reports and records.
• Respond to customer complaints of low pressure, no water, and meter leaks.
• Maintain good relations with customers, the general public, and City employees.
• Provide assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
• Maintain water meters and replace damaged meter boxes.
