About The Position

The Meteorologist forecasts weather conditions and produces and anchors weather reports for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to news consumers. Co-anchor the morning and noon newscasts – must be personable and have the ability to ad lib with co-anchor as well as read a teleprompter.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or certification in Meteorology
  • Must be able to perform non-linear editing
  • Proficiency with the Barron Radar system, and making creative graphics
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of the field of Meteorology and a proven track record of forecasting
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Flexibility to work any shift, including some weekends
  • Standing for extended hours during live broadcasts and events

Responsibilities

  • Produce and present weather/news reports for all platforms
  • Ensure that all weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
  • Write and deliver weather stories in a clear and concise manner
  • Assist in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating weather programming and other content
  • Respond to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent weather situations as required
  • Available for extended shifts during severe weather season
  • Work closely with other meteorologists to develop comprehensive weather coverage
  • Participate in promotional activities including public appearances, community service events, and live newscasts
  • Interact with viewers and users on social media sites
