We are seeking an onsite Metasurface Resonant Photonic Design Intern in our Broomfield, CO location. This role involves designing, simulating, and optimizing resonant photonic devices, and collaborating with larger photonics and optics teams to develop novel and impactful photonic devices. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Physics or Engineering PhD program intended on graduating on/after August 2027
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years’ experience (PhD inclusive) with computational modeling of photonic devices
  • Experience with modeling and design of photonic devices using resonant mechanisms such as quasi-bound states in the continuum, Fano resonances, Mie resonances, guided mode resonances, non-local metasurfaces, etc.
  • Experience with photonic modeling tools such as COMSOL (or other FEM), Lumerical, tidy3D (or other FDTD), RCWA (various)
  • Experience with scientific coding tools (MATLAB, Python, etc.)
  • Willingness and ability to communicate and collaborate with a larger team
  • Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Openness to learning new computational methods and software, and enthusiasm for problem solving
  • Commitment to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
