Metallurgical Sales Engineer

Steel Technologies•Ottawa, OH

About The Position

The Metallurgical Sales Engineer supports process design and development to produce materials that meet customer requirements profitably and with limited liability. The role recommends material reapplications, alternate processing methods, or substitute materials; selects and validates testing and certification; and develops process routes to achieve required properties. The position supports customer claims and rejected material, visits customers for product and sales development and cost-reduction efforts, and works with operating personnel on customer quality requirements. It reviews quality and processing data for continuous improvement, supports corrective actions requiring metallurgical expertise, monitors steel during processing—especially trial orders—and provides technical assistance to outside processors. It may also manage laboratories and assist with APQP and PPAP as needed. This is a safety-sensitive position performed in an office setting with minimal to moderate noise from computers, printers, and people. Employment offers are contingent on the results of a 10-panel drug screening, including marijuana. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals able to perform the essential duties.
