About The Position

ELLWOOD Group, Inc. is seeking a Metallurgical Engineer for their entry-level Metallurgical Engineering Development Program. This role is responsible for the metallurgical aspects of manufacturing and provides support for operational challenges. The position involves technical support for material processing, ensuring quality procedures, and experimenting with new materials and processes. The successful applicant will participate in a rotational program for approximately 1.5 years, gaining exposure to products across ELLWOOD companies in PA, OH, and TX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science with a concentration in Metallurgy or commensurate level of experience
  • Up to one year of internship experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of Metallurgical Engineering concepts and manufacturing methods and procedures
  • Ability to present complex technical objectives and goals in an understandable manner to achieve desired results
  • Possess sound judgement with ability to make independent decisions
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • Possess quality orientation, safety focus and sense of urgency in executing responsibilities
  • Proactive as well as detail and results oriented with strong desire to succeed
  • Motivated and self-directed team player with willingness to work collaboratively
  • Possess strong customer focus and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a multidiscipline team environment and maintain good working relationships with customers and coworkers from different backgrounds, educational levels and skill sets

  • Ability to travel regionally and, on occasion nationally
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required
  • Must be a US Citizen or have a valid green card

Responsibilities

  • Conduct product and process development and metallurgy reviews to support production
  • Review and analyze customer material specifications
  • Assist with development of new grades and processes to meet customer requirements
  • Follow established procedures and sound metallurgical practices
  • Provide technical support for all phases of steel and aluminum operations
  • Execute and analyze metallurgical testing activities and results
  • Provide cost reduction and process enhancements related to metallurgical aspects of the products
  • Assist with problem solving of metallurgical topics throughout the facilities
  • Analyze and determine root cause(s) of internal non-conformances and mechanical test failures
  • Investigate customer claims and provide oral/written summation of findings
  • Customer interface involving metallurgical items
  • Work well with personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Travel regionally and nationally, as needed
  • Abide by all policies and procedures established by the Company
  • Meet attendance requirements
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary
