About The Position

We’re looking for a Metal Worker to perform grinding, blending, sanding, polishing, and finishing operations on aerospace castings. This role uses hand and power tools to remove surface imperfections and prepare components to meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards. At Chromalloy, your work directly supports aviation safety and reliability. Our teams repair and manufacture critical aerospace components used across the global aviation industry. Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and understanding work instructions.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify surface defects and quality issues.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, specifications, and safety procedures.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to work safely, follow procedures, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with grinding, blending, polishing, or finishing metal components.
  • Experience in aerospace, foundry, casting, machining, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience performing visual inspections or rework activities.
  • Familiarity with abrasive materials, polishing tools, and finishing techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Grind, blend, sand, buff, and polish metal castings to meet engineering and customer specifications.
  • Operate pneumatic and power hand tools, including die grinders, belt sanders, buffing equipment, and sandblasting equipment.
  • Remove parting lines, excess material, scratches, burrs, and other surface imperfections.
  • Review routers, work instructions, and inspection requirements before beginning work.
  • Perform visual inspections and identify areas requiring weld repair or additional processing.
  • Complete rework and repair activities related to visual inspection and fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI).
  • Select and use the correct abrasives, tooling, and finishing methods for each operation.
  • Document work performed and accurately complete required production paperwork.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
