About The Position
Clow Valve's Metal Casting Facility has an opening for a 1st Shift Metal Tech. This role involves operating a lathe, removing molten metal for testing, and operating melt lab equipment. The position requires the ability to work in extreme heat and around moving machinery, while utilizing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- Frequent lifting/carrying of up to 10 lbs, some lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Bending/ twisting/ and standing for greater than 8 hours.
- Ability to read and write and understand training and instruction.
- Good Oral and Written Communication.
- Ability to work in extreme heat.
- Must be able to utilize and work around moving machinery.
- Must be able to utilize proper PPE including: respirator, metatarsal guarded boots, eye protection, hearing protection, apron, gloves and sleeves.
Responsibilities
- Running a lathe.
- Removing molten metal from holding furnace and ladle stream for testing
- Operation of melt lab equipment including Pneumatic Rammer, Green Strength, Methylene Blue clay content, Permeability, and Moisture analysis.
- General clean up of area.
- Use of basic hand tools.
- Have a strong analytical sense.
