About The Position
Clow Valve's Metal Casting Facility has an opening for a 1st Shift Metal Tech. This role involves operating a lathe, handling molten metal for testing, operating melt lab equipment, performing general cleanup, and using basic hand tools. The position requires a strong analytical sense and the ability to work in extreme heat and around moving machinery while utilizing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- Frequent lifting/carrying of up to 10 lbs, some lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Bending/ twisting/ and standing for greater than 8 hours.
- Ability to read and write and understand training and instruction.
- Good Oral and Written Communication.
- Ability to work in extreme heat.
- Must be able to utilize and work around moving machinery.
- Must be able to utilize proper PPE including: respirator, metatarsal guarded boots, eye protection, hearing protection, apron, gloves and sleeves.
Responsibilities
- Running a lathe.
- Removing molten metal from holding furnace and ladle stream for testing
- Operation of melt lab equipment including Pneumatic Rammer, Green Strength, Methylene Blue clay content, Permeability, and Moisture analysis.
- General clean up of area.
- Use of basic hand tools.
- Have a strong analytical sense.
