Metal Shop Technician - 2nd Shift

About The Position

The Metal Shop Technician will assist in fabrication and assembly of custom Switchgear structures of varying size and scope to meet client and product specs and prepare the same for shipment. Good understanding of machinery safety. Use hand and small power tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drills as required. Must be able to read and understand blueprints. Infrequent travel may be required for install/service.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years in general mechanical or metal working or associated field.
Experience in the use of hand tools and hand power tools
Valid driver’s license (for service-related positions).
Satisfactory completion of additional background screening (if applicable).
Ability to read blueprints.
Follow verbal directions to meet the production schedule.
Ability to use ruler, scale, tape measure, calipers
Possess basic tools including gear wrenches, impact gun, torque wrenches, metrics & standard sockets.
High dedication to quality of results to avoid rework.
Ability to work under pressure/time constraints.
Able to work with minimal direction and achieve objectives.

Nice To Haves

Welding certification.
Forklift experience and/or certification.
Carpentry skills.

Responsibilities

Assist with the handling of raw steel and copper.
Assist in operation of metal shop machinery, including punch, brake, shear and saws.
Weld sheet metal goods and prep for coating.
Assemble metalwork and handle sheet metal goods.
Follow blueprint diagrams.
Be proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools.
Fabrication, including saw cutting and drilling.
May be required to cross train, supporting other sections of the Company.
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
Performs other duties as assigned.
