About The Position

DIT-MCO International, a trusted name in wire harness testing and aerospace innovation for over 75 years, is seeking an experienced, hands-on Metal Shop Supervisor to join our team. This role will lead the team and help drive quality, efficiency, and safety throughout the shop operation. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact by overseeing daily shop activities, leading skilled employees, and ensuring quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. This position serves as a working leader within the metal shop, contributing directly to production activities while coordinating workflow, equipment setup, troubleshooting activities, and supporting team performance. Responsible for assigning priorities, and providing technical leadership to shop personnel while ensuring production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements are achieved. Serves as the primary resource for fabrication processes, equipment operation, employee accountability, and continuous improvement within the metal shop.

Requirements

  • Technical degree in manufacturing technology, machine tool technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in metal fabrication, machining, welding, or manufacturing.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and blueprint reading skills.
  • Knowledge of fabrication equipment, including CNC machines, press brakes, turret punches, saws, welders, and related shop equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and production issues.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment, while leading and developing others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and maintenance recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform daily fabrication, machining, welding, and finishing operations while prioritizing work to meet production schedules.
  • Operate, program, set up, troubleshoot, and maintain fabrication equipment including CNC machines, press brakes, turret punches, welders, saws, grinders, and related shop equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine manufacturing methods, material requirements, and production priorities.
  • Serve as the technical resource for fabrication processes, machine setup, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement within the metal shop.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision by assigning work, training employees, monitoring productivity, and ensuring quality, efficiency, and housekeeping expectations are met.
  • Review employee time records, monitor attendance and leave usage, address attendance concerns, and ensure compliance with company policies and established work rules.
  • Employee evaluations should be completed promptly and as scheduled to support organizational planning.
  • Inspect finished products throughout the manufacturing process to verify compliance with specifications, dimensional tolerances, workmanship standards, and quality requirements.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices by monitoring compliance with company safety policies, ensuring proper use of PPE, correcting unsafe conditions or behaviors, and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Perform and coordinate preventive maintenance activities, monitor equipment condition, and communicate repair needs to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor material usage and inventory of shop supplies and communicate material and equipment needs to support production schedules.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, maintenance, and timekeeping records while communicating production status, equipment issues, and personnel concerns to management.
  • Recommend improvements to fabrication processes, workflow, equipment utilization, quality, safety, and overall shop efficiency while performing other related duties as assigned.
  • Leads by example in all shop operations, fabrication jobs, equipment operation, quality, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain accurate records for production output, downtime, and labor usage.
  • Guide, mentor, and develop team members by providing constructive feedback, offering growth opportunities, and sharing knowledge and expertise.
