About The Position
Pennsylvania Steel Company, a leading distributor of steel and aluminum, is seeking dependable and personable individuals for a rewarding career as a 3rd Shift Saw Operator at their Hauppauge, NY branch. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with a company that has been in business since 1972 and has expanded to 11 locations. The role involves operating automatic cold saw and band saw machinery.
Requirements
- Ability to read micrometers and tape measures
- Forklift exp.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Detail oriented and able to multi-task
- Familiar with basic computer systems
Responsibilities
- Operating automatic cold saw and band saw
- Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Ability to work with quality inspection tools including micrometers and calipers and perform basic dimensional tolerances.
- Monitor machine operation for continued accuracy throughout cutting processes
- Prioritize workload to meet customer requirements and company performance goals
