Metal Saw Operator
About The Position
As a Metal fabricator, the Metal Saw Operator works under the direction of a Metal Lead and directly with the Production Team, processing steel and aluminum using automated and manual saws and other equipment as required. The Operator also processes materials for custom products. The position is based at the company's manufacturing facility in Port Orchard, Washington, and contributes to completing successful projects. The role requires reading production orders and cut sheets, inspecting materials throughout processing, completing inventory paperwork, reporting defective materials and faulty equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Physical duties include lifting and carrying materials, standing, handling and fingering, and other activities at varying frequencies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in metal fabrication.
- Ability to lift more than 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Reliable transportation, regular attendance, and punctuality are critical.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret production orders and cut sheets.
- Inspect material quality before, during, and after processing to ensure standards are met.
- Complete required paperwork for inventory purposes.
- Immediately report defective material and faulty equipment to the Production Manager.
- Maintain a clean work environment and comply with plant safety regulations and work rules.
- Process steel and aluminum using automated and manual saws and other equipment as required.
- Process materials for custom products.
