About The Position

As a Metal Finisher, you will metal finish medical devices to meet specifications, perform quality verification of medical devices, including non-destructive testing, laser mark medical devices, and operate machines used to metal finish including belt lathes, sandblast equipment, robots etc. This is a 3rd shift position: 11:00pm-7:30am (Sunday Evening - Friday Morning) with a 6% shift premium.

• Minimum 2 years related experience (for Metal Finisher II).
• Visual acuity requirements apply to the role, including peripheral, color, and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum 3 years related experience (for Sr. Metal Finisher - internal candidates only).

Responsibilities

• Operate sandblast/glass bead machines to meet quality and production requirements.
• Read and understand work instructions.
• Operate measuring tools including: cmm, digital/optical comparators, Tally Round, air gages, calipers and micrometers.
• Operate belt lathe machines to meet quality and production requirements.
• Operate robotic machines to meet quality specifications and production requirements.
• Correctly enter data into device history routers for the product produced.
• Perform secondary operations required for production but not necessarily on a daily basis such as but not limited to: laser marking, work order completions.
• Enter required production data into systems used by MicroPort for business purposes. (dbh, oee, Workman, Camstar etc.)
• Straighten with hydraulic press.
• Masking medical devices.
• Perform penetrant inspection process to meet quality specifications and production requirements.
• Perform required pm’s on machines and processes.
• Train other employees to metal finish.
• Electro polish process (if required for production).
• Precision finishing.
• 6S practices and skills.
• Welding (if required for production).
• Proficiency in metal finishing in two of the following production areas tibs, fems, hips, job shop and prototypes.
• Troubleshooting robot issues (if required for production).
• Heat treating (if required for production).
• Knowledge and experience in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
