About The Position

The Metal Finisher is responsible for smoothing, shaping, and finishing metal products using grinding equipment. The role maintains high standards for finished products, which move into the production process. The position is open to proven Metal Finishers or Shop Apprentices.

Requirements

• High school equivalent or vocational training.
• Proven experience as a metal grinder, metal finisher, or in a similar metalworking role.
• Strong understanding of grinding machines and hand tools.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality control.
• Ability to lift and move heavy metal parts.
• Safety-conscious and committed to following safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate grinding machinery to remove excess material and smooth rough edges on metal products.
• Inspect metal pieces for defects, unfinished edges, and damaged parts.
• Adjust machine settings, including speed, feed, and depth of cut, to achieve the desired finish.
• Evaluate, maintain, and replace grinding wheels and other machinery parts.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and production instructions.
• Keep the work area organized and ensure proper storage of tools and materials.
• Communicate with supervisors to help meet production timelines and quality standards.
