About The Position

The Metal Fabricator is responsible for performing welding, fabrication, repair, and maintenance work on production equipment, machinery, structural components, piping, platforms, guards, conveyors, and other facility systems. This position works closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure equipment and facilities remain safe, reliable, and operational. The ideal candidate has strong welding and fabrication skills, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of industrial welding or fabrication experience
Experience with MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding.
Ability to read basic blueprints, drawings, and measurements.
Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to use welding, fabrication, and mechanical hand tools.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a maintenance team.
Must demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience welding stainless steel is strongly preferred.
Previous experience in a manufacturing, food-processing, or industrial environment preferred.
Welding certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other metals as required.
Fabricate, repair, and modify equipment, machinery, frames, platforms, guards, brackets, supports, and other components.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, measurements, and work instructions.
Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure proper quality, strength, and fit.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility structures.
Repair and modify conveyors, processing equipment, chutes, tables, racks, and other production-related equipment.
Cut, grind, drill, bend, and shape metal using appropriate hand and power tools.
Use torches, plasma cutters, grinders, welding machines, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
Troubleshoot equipment and identify welding or fabrication solutions to minimize production downtime.
Work with the Maintenance Team to complete emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance projects.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and welding safety practices.
Follow food-safety and sanitation requirements applicable to a food-processing environment.
Properly protect food products, equipment, and surrounding areas from sparks, debris, and contamination during welding and fabrication work.
Maintain welding equipment, tools, and supplies in good working condition.
Complete maintenance documentation and communicate completed work and equipment issues to management.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
