About The Position

Prepares, fabricates and welds various metal products, components, and structures. Works from patterns, blueprints, or other drawings from Engineering or customers using a variety of tools and machines to create metal parts or assemble components. Must have sufficient experience in manufacturing to function independently with little supervision or have prior experience in Metal Fabrication or Welding. Must be able to use Shop Trak proficiently within 30 days of hire if hired externally. Must be able to consistently identify workmanship and quality defects that could impact next steps, distributors, shipping vendors, or end users. Must understand and follow Clemco’s totem system and visual cues to prompt specific work steps within 30 days of selection for the role.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Math and reading are required in the role
Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as well as fractions and decimals
Reads and interprets blueprints, detailed drawings, schematics and measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers and micrometers
High level of mechanical aptitude to learn and perform moderately complex metal fabrication work
A working knowledge of metal fabrication tools
Must have sufficient critical thinking skills to make appropriate decisions about setup, operations and procedures related to metal fabrication
Conscientious safety mindset
Great attention to detail
Computer literacy and ability/willingness to learn more

Responsibilities

Operates hand tools and setups for metal fabrication work.
Operates laser cutter, drill press, saw, punch press, gasket maker, brake presses.
Consistently reads prints, work instructions, schematics, and drawings effectively.
Operates the nibbler effectively.
Rolls and bends metal by hand or using digital equipment.
Inspects own work for quality and safety related defects.
Actively follows all safety procedures, wears Clemco-provided PPE, and assists in keeping everyone safe by reminding others when they may forget to follow safety procedures.
Proactively works to gain knowledge of other departments, troubleshooting standard or project equipment from drawings or sketches with the mentoring and guidance of more senior or highly skilled technicians.
Seeks out and implements continuous quality improvements.
Actively participates in LEAN activities such as PDCA, A-3, and Root Cause Analysis activities.
Collaborates with leads, supervisors, senior level and highly skilled technicians to develop solutions for customers, demonstrate the equipment’s operations, and find shipping solutions to best protect the equipment during transfer to distributors or customers.
May attend seminars or other training to keep skills up to date.
Demonstrates flexibility when asked to take on new things.
