About The Position

As a design estimator, you'll play a crucial role in the assessing processes, creating design solutions and ensuring each project gets to our customer in an appropriate time frame that meets our high standards of quality and performance. Nucor Buildings Group is searching for individuals who can contribute to our sales growth and profitability by creating safe, accurate, and cost-effective metal building systems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent & 2+ years of Pre-Engineered Metal Building experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or other related field.
  • Can currently read, understand and comprehend Architectural, Structural, and Mechanical project drawings.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Access, and 2-dimensional drawing software.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years Pre-Engineered Metal Building Design, Detailing, or Estimating experience.
  • Working knowledge of pre-engineered metal building systems.
  • Functional knowledge of EQuote, NBG Design Tools, Access, Tekla, or ProgeCAD.
  • College Degree in Construction related field.

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate, thorough, and competitive pre-sale designs and estimates for building systems in compliance with established company processes and industry standards.
  • Provide clear and professional verbal and written communication with customers and internal teammates to ensure project requirements are fully understood and addressed.
  • Receive and clarify quote requests, ensuring all assumed and provided project details are incorporated into well-qualified proposals.
  • Support American Buildings service practices, customer needs, and division objectives by delivering proposals that influence positive results for both AB-IL and its customers.
  • Apply knowledge of current building codes to design building elements and maintain a strong understanding of AB-IL products and their applications.
  • Review and effectively interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical project drawings to ensure design accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
  • Assist customers in identifying opportunities for “value engineering” to optimize design efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines and project schedules.
  • Travel as necessary to support customers and project requirements.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
