About The Position

The MES Software Engineer / Technical Lead role will be responsible for working with business leaders, users, and IT resources to define, develop, implement, and support standardized Siemens Opcenter (formerly Camstar) MES solutions across a global environment. This role involves establishing best practices and developing Corning's architecture for manufacturing systems, designing, implementing, and supporting manufacturing systems in accordance with standard Corning IT practices. The position requires a strong technical understanding and hands-on experience with technologies such as .NET, AJAX, T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and SQL Server BI components. The individual will engage with internal and external customers to analyze requirements from both a business and systems perspective, translating business goals into technical solutions. A strong understanding of ERP, MES, shop floor controls, and their integration is essential. The role also ensures development work is completed on schedule, impacts to manufacturing systems are documented and communicated, and serves as the technical lead on global projects.

Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Science, Systems Management, IT, or a related field.
Strong leadership and project management skills.
In-depth knowledge of industry best practices in application development.
7+ years of experience using object-oriented programming languages such as .NET and C#.
Experience working with IT systems in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
In-depth knowledge of source code management systems such as Git, TFVC, and SVN.
In-depth knowledge of relational databases.
Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, Test-Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery.
Demonstrate strong technical understanding and hands-on experience with technologies such as .NET, AJAX, T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and SQL Server BI components.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of ERP, MES, shop floor controls, and how they integrate to provide a complete plant solution.

Nice To Haves

Understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems, specifically Siemens Opcenter modeling and Designer.
Proven track record of implementing IT solutions that meet business demands and are technically sound.
Understanding of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and the current Angular framework.
Experience working in a Scrum/Agile team.
