About The Position

This position is in Cargill's Food Enterprise, which serves food manufacturers, food service customers, and retailers with a range of innovative ingredients and branded products, including poultry, beef, egg, alternative protein, salt, oils, starches, sweeteners, cocoa, and chocolate. The Merchant II will manage a moderately complex supplier base and execute transactions for commodities, ensuring they meet production requirements for timing, volume, quantity, and cost. This role involves buying and selling commodities from various entities within the agricultural supply chain.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of two years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with transportation and logistics, quality assurance, customer managers, and credit managers for efficient execution.
• Plan purchases and transportation to optimize the profitable use of stock and storage facilities.
• Enter routine data and generate specialty reports from contract management databases and systems.
• Research and analyze freight opportunities to maximize margin.
• Address customer, supplier, and business counterpart needs, resolving routine problems and concerns.
• Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, escalating more complex issues as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
