About The Position

The Merchant Assistant, General Merchandise is responsible for supporting the successful general merchandise business operations, including product data management and administration supporting effective communication of product and seasonal intent. Product data management includes the timely collection, enrichment and deployment of product data, as well as ensuring the accuracy and quality of product data that meets Indigo’s standards and the needs of both external and internal customers. Additionally, this role assists assigned categories with administrative tasks, while supporting go-to-market preparation, sample management, vendor communications, and ad-hoc business analysis reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Business, commerce or related field
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a retail environment preferred
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel), Outlook & Internet applications
  • Highly attentive to detail & accuracy in data entry
  • Comfortable with large lists of data/spreadsheets, and sometimes repetitive tasks
  • Proven ability to build productive business relationships with both internal and external partners
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and reacting quickly to shifting priorities
  • Effective communication skills
  • A natural problem solver who is analytical and creative

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingualism in English/French would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy of general merchandise product data for all assigned SKUs (i.e. item creation, price management, product attributes)
  • Drive end-to-end digital process by communicating and collaborating with internal and external partners to acquire specified data, images/photography and copy
  • Complete article set up and enrichment all assigned SKUs, for retail product management and online selling
  • Work with suppliers and internal partners to enrich Indigo product data for online selling.
  • Complete edits and revisions to product data during product lifecycle, including de-listing and timely off-boarding
  • Support Category management teams with product sample management, weekly business reporting and ad-hoc category needs
  • Prepare weekly sales review, vendor performance, store sales and ad-hoc reporting, market research and other miscellaneous projects as needed
  • Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all decision-making and design processes
  • Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs
