Merchandising Analyst

Baltic BornLehi, UT

About The Position

Baltic Børn is looking for a Merchandising Analyst to own the numbers behind their assortment. This role is central to determining the success of a season by managing pricing, markdowns, and inventory levels. The analyst will use Inventory Planner by Sage to build forecasts and replenishment plans, ensuring best-sellers are in stock, and will identify areas of margin gain and loss. • Demonstrated proficiency with Inventory Planner by Sage for forecasting, replenishment, and purchase order planning.
  • Strong command of retail math: margin, markup, sell-through, weeks of supply, inventory turn, GMROI, and open-to-buy.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, with comfort working with large datasets accurately.
  • Proven ability to turn analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Sound judgment and ability to operate independently within guardrails, with the instinct to escalate when necessary.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including presenting findings to senior leadership without jargon.
  • High attention to detail and ownership of data accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth ecommerce environment with shifting priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, merchandising, finance, supply chain, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in women's apparel or a direct-to-consumer brand.
  • Familiarity with Shopify and ecommerce reporting tools.
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI, Looker, or similar BI tools.
  • Exposure to vendor and purchase order management.
  • Experience supporting a buying or merchandising team in a growth-stage business.

Responsibilities

  • Own markdown strategy and cadence, including identifying underperformers, modeling margin impact, and executing price changes.
  • Track sell-through by style, category, size, and color, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Analyze gross margin performance at SKU and category levels, considering promotions, discounting, and full-price sell-through.
  • Maintain pricing accuracy across the catalog and collaborate on promotional pricing and event planning.
  • Conduct post-season and post-promotion hindsight analysis and provide recommendations for future buys.
  • Own replenishment planning and reorder recommendations, placing and adjusting orders within established thresholds.
  • Build and maintain demand forecasts by style and category, incorporating seasonality, launch calendars, and promotional lift.
  • Manage open-to-buy to align inventory investment with sales plans and flag necessary buy adjustments.
  • Monitor inventory health (weeks of supply, aged/excess inventory, stockouts, lost sales) and recommend exit strategies for slow movers.
  • Maintain accurate item, cost, and lead-time data in Inventory Planner by Sage.
  • Partner with operations and vendors on inbound timing and reforecast when delivery dates change.
  • Own a recurring sell-through and inventory health report for senior leadership, including risk/opportunity callouts and recommended actions.
  • Build and maintain dashboards to visualize performance for the wider team.
  • Partner with marketing and creative on promotional calendar timing, launch support, and inventory-informed campaign planning.
  • Collaborate with design and buying teams by providing data to support or challenge trend and assortment decisions.
