About The Position

As a Merchandiser, you'll be the face of Alsum in retail stores, ensuring our fresh potatoes and produce are fully stocked, beautifully displayed, and always ready for customers. Every day you'll build relationships, solve problems, and help bring fresh, quality products from our farms to grocery shelves. This role involves receiving, storing, and distributing merchandise to fill shelves, racks, and tables. You will be responsible for stocking produce, unloading materials, inspecting items for damage, rotating product using a first-in, first-out method, and monitoring backroom stock to ensure product is moved to the display floor. You will also communicate with customers, the merchandising team, and the sales team, attach identification to products, inspect shipments, and set up merchandise displays. Additionally, you will remove debris and damaged produce, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Valid forklift license (or willingness to get one)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Basic understanding of or ability to quickly learn company product codes and terminology
Thorough understanding of merchandising policies and procedures
Good analytical skills and ability to make sound judgments relative to inventory
Represent Alsum Companies to external customers with professionalism
Self-motivated and able to function as part of a team
Ability to utilize Human Resource Information System (HRIS) software
Valid state motor vehicle license with acceptable motor vehicle record
The ability to move product with a pallet jack, or by cart
Various repetitive movements
Good manual dexterity to perform required duties
Exposure to airborne particles or fumes
Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times
Must wear safety glasses and hearing protection in designated areas

Responsibilities

Stock produce or other merchandise
Unload materials or equipment
Inspect items for damage or defects
Rotate product, first in, first out
Check backroom stock daily and report to store Produce Manager the need to get all product out on the display floor and report happenings to your immediate supervisor
Discuss goods or services information with customer, merchandising team, and/or sales team
Attach identification information to products, items, or containers
Inspect shipments to ensure correct order fulfillment
Monitor inventories of products or materials
Set up merchandise displays
Remove debris or damaged produce items
Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
