About The Position

This position is responsible for the consistent control and check-in of all merchandise for the store, including gift, truckers accessory, and various other general merchandise. The role also involves providing customer service, including assisting customers and backing up cashiers during busy periods. Security is a key aspect, requiring vigilance against theft and vendor errors. The merchandiser is also responsible for scanning in all incoming product and coordinating projects with the store manager.

Requirements

Position could require standing for 8 hours.
Must be able to stoop, bend and climb stairs.
Must be able to lift 30 to 40 pounds.
Employee needs to be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to three (3) hours in length.
Must be able to understand simple mathematics and assist in configuring retail pricing when asked by the store manager.
Must be familiar with all percentages, pricing and departments for store products.
Needs to be able to count money when assisting cashiers at the tills.
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Must be able to communicate clearly to staff and supervisors both by writing and orally.

Responsibilities

Provide consistent control and check-in of all merchandise for the store.
Receive gift, truckers accessory, and various other general merchandise.
Provide customer service and backup cashiers when the store is busy.
Be trained on all store tills and familiar with cashier rules and procedures.
Ensure the security of employees, products, and the facility by being aware of suspicious activity and potential theft.
Document vendor errors and receive proper credits for missing product.
Scan in all product as it comes to receiving via UPS, FEDEX, or vendor delivery.
Check-in product from various vendors, price and display merchandise, including cleaning areas before product placement.
Coordinate all projects with the store manager.
Backup cashiers including relieving for lunch breaks.
Work the tills when assigned.
Help with coverage for vacations.
Be available to help customers when necessary.
Coordinate Ambest signage, check-in and placement of specials.
Do inventory at the end of each month for Deli.
Report waste for Deli monthly and hand in to Controller.
Order various product lines assigned by the Store Manager.
Be responsible for money in collection jars on cashier counters.
