About The Position

This position is responsible for conducting commercial and trading activities associated with grain origination and marketing for a grain elevator or soybean processing facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture Economics or relevant discipline
  • 6-10 years of experience in commodity merchandising.
  • Strong interest in agribusiness, specifically soybean processing / refining operations
  • In-depth knowledge of cash commodity trading and CBOT
  • Strong sales knowledge and negotiations skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to learn, prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, market values, pricing and margin factors
  • Strong organizational and execution skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel

Responsibilities

  • Conducting commercial and trading activities associated with grain origination and marketing for a grain elevator or soybean processing facility.
  • Communicating with farmers and elevator customers to originate grain and provide customer service.
  • Servicing farmer customers in areas of market information, e-business, bids, hours, grade reporting and accounting issues in a proactive manner that exceeds expectations and builds strong relationships.
  • Communicating with feed mills, livestock producers, brokers, and other buyers in marketing soybeans meal and soyhull pellets.
  • Building relationships with new and existing customers to grow origination and sales for the facility.
  • Coordinating and assisting in managing all logistics around inbound and outbound product flows.
  • Creating and communicating load order numbers for product loading to customers.
  • Communicating plant issues affecting receiving or product loading to customers and internal groups.
  • Facilitating and assisting in the communication and exchange of business information and market conditions between local and corporate management in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Evaluating and reporting changing crops and market conditions to appropriate company personnel in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Organizing farmer meetings.
  • Working with hedging, spreads, and crush projections making sure daily position is accurate.
  • Ensuring accurate hedging to maintain plant margins and minimize risks.
  • Assisting in weekly margin projections.
  • Checking local competition and elevator bid structure ensuring Bunge is competitive.
  • Ensuring compliance of contracts.
  • Reviewing accounts receivable issues and assisting in collecting as needed.
  • Updating bid sheet daily and distributing internally and externally.
  • Helping train and educate new merchants as needed.
  • Managing grain positions.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of U.S. production and supply and demand analysis for corn, beans, wheat, rice and milo.
  • Having an in-depth understanding of product flows and freight spreads in market region to execute on highest margin decision.
  • Being a leader in new and existing Bunge programs and initiatives.
  • Attending all safety meetings.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
