About The Position

The role of Merchandiser II is to support the trading activities for Green Bison Soy Processing LLC in Spiritwood ND while leading the commercial rail fleet logistic coordination with ADM to maximize cycle times and minimize demurrage. Green Bison is a joint venture between ADM (75%) and Marathon Petroleum Corp (25%).

Requirements

  • University Degree in Agriculture or related field of study
  • 2+ years of experience in commodity trading and logistics
  • Computer competence, especially use of email, Salesforce, Future Source, AGRIS, IBM, and internal web-based applications
  • Demonstrated capacity to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • This position requires working at a desk both on a telephone and at a computer for prolonged periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the rail hopper fleet for all inbound and outbound shipments for the Spiritwood facility in collaboration with ADM. Fleet size would estimate 700+ railcars.
  • Manage the Soyhull Pellet position while selling truck account direct to 3rd party and all rail to ADM.
  • Responsible for growing and maintaining relationships with farmer and commercial elevator accounts
  • Secure a new, while maintaining current, customer base with strategic focus on soybean meal and soybean pelletized hulls within the Animal Ag market segment
  • Expand sales with existing customer base through call frequency while leveraging the ADM network
  • Drive excellence in quality and customer service as key competitive differentiators
  • Understand grower economics, processing capabilities and logistical infrastructure to develop a cost-effective strategy.
  • Assimilation of supply and demand information, including market trends, and communicating them to the broader organization
  • Develop a working knowledge of the customer’s operation as it relates to product marketing and logistics. This may include how local markets might provide selling opportunities, and how tailored risk management solutions might meet specific marketing goals for our customer
  • Engage with operational, accounting and administrative staff to ensure execution excellence, timely and accurate settlements and contract management
  • Origination responsibilities will be primary focus to soybeans, also including but not limited to, sunflowers, dry edible beans, canola and fertilizer
