Merchandiser / Cashier
About The Position
The Merchandiser / Cashier is responsible for ensuring stock is placed on the floor, the ability to build displays and ensure labels are correctly placed. The incumbent will have excellent customer service skills, cashier experience in a busy environment and exceptional attention to detail. This role requires a person that can handle a very busy multi-line environment of incoming store calls that must be answered promptly and professionally. Route commercial wholesale buyers to senior parts specialists, take accurate messages, and answer retail customer questions regarding store hours, product availability, or order status.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in cash and merchandising.
- Experience with reading invoices and filing is a definite asset.
- Must have the ability to evaluate problems, identify root causes, develop corrective action plans, and help influence change and process improvement.
- Strong communication and decision-making skills coupled with a professional demeanor.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Self-directed yet able to work well in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and processing skills.
- Ability to work any day of the week.
- Experience in the automotive and heavy-duty parts industry with product knowledge.
- Individuals with great attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Inventory management experience.
- Experience using a paging system in a busy retail environment.
- Experience handling cash & debit / credit card.
- Safety conscious attitude.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work well under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Customer service in helping customers identify parts and products throughout the store.
- Ensuring stock is put away correctly.
- Inventory management.
- Build displays and ensure labels are in the correct location.
- Use paging system.
- Manage transactions with customers using cash registers including cash, debit and credit.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
- Other duties as required.
