The Merchandise Planner is responsible for analyzing the in-season business and developing future financial strategies to support financial goals. This role collaborates with Merchandising, Production and Inventory, and Allocation teams. The planner will partner with merchants and planning leadership on strategy, building targets, KPIs, markdown strategy, optimizing sell-through, and forward planning. They will drive and own Pre-Season Planning by connecting statistical analysis, assortment architecture, and merchant vision into a merchandise plan. Seasonal Planning involves developing seasonal architecture aligned with brand strategies and calendars, incorporating distortions, targets, and relationships of regular to promotional sales sensitivities and demand. The role also involves developing weekly sales, markdowns, and receipt plans at the style level, managing monthly receipts to approved levels, analyzing buys for optimal inventory turn, and considering seasonal sales curves and receipt flow for new product launches. Additionally, the Merchandise Planner will conduct hindsight analysis of merchandise/planning strategy, analyze business performance to maximize sales, profitability, and inventory while mitigating risk, support the creation of financial decks with commentary, and improve analytical capabilities to drive key milestone meetings with enhanced communication and influence.
