About The Position

The Merchandise Planning Analyst leads and coordinates key planning, forecasting and reporting processes, and analyzes business initiatives to identify opportunities/risks as well as drive business results for the Merchandising department. The Merch. Planning Analyst is expected to utilize an analytical/financial background to provide insights and recommendations to cross-functional business partners. This role will partner with the Merchandising leadership team to improve operational & financial performance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related field is required.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in financial analysis required
Experience with budgeting, planning, modeling, and forecasting systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical and decision-making skills, and ability to work on cross-functional teams

Nice To Haves

Retail or Grocery industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Assists in the development of long-range financial planning and annual budgets for Sprouts
Builds financial models to support accurate planning and influence decision making
Supports forecast processes and summarizes forecast highlights, business drivers, risk and opportunities for merchandising department.
Provides analysis and recommendations to help merchants achieve department revenue and profit goals
Regular reviews of pricing, promotion, and assortment to help support decision making
Pre-post analysis of merchandising tests
Prepare weekly and monthly presentations for Merchandising leadership
Weekly promotional effectiveness reporting and Ad planning
Reporting on key business metrics, including department/category performance analysis
Partner with the business to understand variances to forecast/budget and understand and relay ongoing implications
Serves as project lead for ad hoc projects by managing objectives, deliverables, and key milestones with minimal supervision
Supports manager in the coaching & development of junior team members
