About The Position

As our SmileMakers Merchandise Coordinator, you will be responsible for supporting all Merchandise Department initiatives and maintaining accurate product data. This position takes place on-site in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees of organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must have strong computer skills
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office software applications including Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and numerous Internet browsers
  • 3-6 months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • The employee is frequently required to talk or hear
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Responsibilities

  • Support and adhere to SmileMakers’ Vision and Values Statement
  • Maintain accurate product information in SmileMakers US and Canadian databases
  • Perform product uploads as needed for new items
  • Update the system with price changes and promotional discounts
  • Maintain Change Sheets to implement all product related database, website and catalog changes
  • Work with Merchandisers to ensure accuracy and timely set up of new products
  • Update the system database with pricing, item codes, sales restrictions, country of origin and vendor information for all new products
  • Measure, label and organize all new product samples before passing along to Creative Dept. for photography
  • Develop effective sales copy through accurate product descriptions key word set-up
  • Run market sales reports to assist in catalog pagination process
  • Execute and evaluate Merchandise and Purchasing reports as needed for research
  • Help Merchandisers evaluate competitor pricing
  • Proof all new catalogs to ensure accuracy of product pricing, codes, descriptions and images are accurate
  • Address product and database related questions from other departments in a timely manner
  • Monitor the website on a regular basis and work with Web Team to ensure that all product information is accurate
  • Help resolve product quality issues
  • Proof email promotions and notify Market Managers of corrections
  • Prepare new product samples for Customer Service Kickoff Meetings
  • Review daily Backorder Report and suggest replacement products for customers
  • Abide by all policies and procedures of SmileMakers and Oriental Trading Company
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Must be able to attend face to face meetings on short or little advance notice
  • Work requires in-person collaboration among colleagues and contractors
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned
