About The Position

The Merchandise Assistant Manager joins the Store Manager in leading store associates and creating positive experiences for the communities Dollar Tree serves. The role focuses on merchandising and processing freight, while assisting with store functions and day-to-day activities. The assistant manager also supports the Store Manager with freight flow, merchandise ordering and stocking, sales-floor effectiveness, and merchandising initiatives. The role requires maintaining a safe, clean, and respectful store environment and meeting the physical demands of retail work.

Requirements

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy team environment.
• Ability to lift 30–50 pounds from floor to above shoulder height.
• Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Prior retail and management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
• Follow company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines.
• Maintain the stockroom and sales floor to company standards.
• Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
• Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and interact professionally and courteously with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Process the receipt and return of DSD merchandise as assigned by the Store Manager.
• Manage freight flow in accordance with productivity standards.
• Order and stock merchandise, including frozen and refrigerated products, in accordance with productivity standards.
• Ensure the sales floor is sales-effective.
• Plan, merchandise, and maintain Clip Strips and Power Panels with sales-effective items.
• Plan and implement monthly Sales Planners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
