About The Position

The MEP Inspector – Aviation provides field inspection, quality assurance, documentation, and construction oversight for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and related building systems supporting projects at Denver International Airport (DEN). The MEP Inspector will monitor contractor activities to ensure installations are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract documents, applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and airport standards. The ideal candidate will have previous experience inspecting MEP systems on airport, aviation, terminal, concourse, baggage handling, transportation, or other large-scale infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of MEP construction inspection, quality assurance, quality control, or related construction experience.
  • Strong knowledge of construction plans, specifications, shop drawings, and MEP installation requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety codes.
  • Ability to prepare detailed inspection reports and construction documentation.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with contractors, engineers, designers, construction managers, and airport representatives.
  • Ability to work in an active airport and construction environment.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, or alternate shifts when required by project activities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous airport or aviation construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience inspecting multiple MEP disciplines, including: Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Fire protection, Fire alarm, Building controls, Emergency power systems
  • Previous experience at Denver International Airport or another major commercial airport.
  • Experience with airport terminal, concourse, baggage handling, central utility plant, or aviation facility projects.
  • Experience with major airport capital improvement programs.
  • Experience with testing, commissioning, startup, and turnover of MEP systems.
  • Knowledge of FAA and airport construction requirements.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • ICC, NICET, NFPA, or other applicable inspection certifications.
  • Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or fire protection inspection certifications preferred.
  • Experience with construction management and inspection software.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant MEP inspection and aviation construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily field inspections of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and related building systems.
  • Inspect HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, controls, pumps, mechanical rooms, and associated systems.
  • Inspect electrical distribution, panels, conduit, wiring, lighting, emergency power, generators, and related electrical systems.
  • Inspect domestic water, sanitary, storm drainage, plumbing fixtures, piping, and related plumbing systems.
  • Inspect fire alarm, fire suppression, sprinkler, life-safety, and related systems.
  • Monitor installation activities for compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, and project requirements.
  • Verify contractor workmanship and installed materials meet project quality standards.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and approved changes.
  • Prepare detailed daily inspection reports, field notes, photographs, and project documentation.
  • Identify deficiencies, non-conforming work, and potential construction issues.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, airport representatives, construction managers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Witness testing, startup, commissioning, and functional performance activities for MEP systems.
  • Support inspections of equipment installation, energization, system testing, and final acceptance.
  • Participate in punch-list inspections, system turnover, closeout, and commissioning activities.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with applicable safety requirements.
  • Coordinate inspection activities within active airport terminals, concourses, operational areas, and secure environments.
  • Maintain accurate inspection and construction records throughout the project.
