Prepare detailed estimates for the project based on the design documents, narratives, and specifications, focusing on the Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Protection/Electrical/Technology/LV System (MEP) trades. This role involves attending site walks, developing win strategies, establishing subcontractor relationships, and preparing quantity take-offs and estimates from conceptual design through construction documents. The MEP Estimator will also identify competitors, understand market conditions, solicit pricing, and provide guidance to project management staff. They will perform constructability analysis, participate in life cycle analysis, and develop value engineering options. The position requires coordination with various stakeholders, including engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and owner's representatives, to resolve MEP issues. The role also involves preparing bid recording sheets, evaluating subcontractor proposals, assisting with change orders, and understanding labor rates. There is a possibility of supervising assistant estimators or interns. The MEP Estimator will also gather and analyze MEP system bid data to maintain a historical cost database.
