About The Position

Brighton Solutions is seeking an MEP Engineer that is responsible for the design, analysis, coordination, and oversight of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems for facility and project applications. This role ensures systems are designed and implemented to meet performance requirements, safety standards, and applicable codes while supporting operational efficiency and long-term reliability. The MEP Engineer collaborates with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions across new construction, renovations, and existing facility improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field
  • 4–7+ years of experience in MEP engineering or building systems design
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Proficiency in reading and producing engineering drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, etc.)
  • Experience with engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, load calculation tools)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (or FE / EIT with an interest and ability to obtain)
  • Experience with fire protection system design (sprinkler, fire alarm, suppression systems)
  • Experience in commercial, healthcare, industrial, or mission-critical facilities
  • LEED accreditation or experience with sustainable design practices
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems
  • Experience with commissioning or retro-commissioning processes

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop MEP and fire protection systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, and life safety systems
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports
  • Perform system sizing, load calculations, and equipment selection
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards (NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, IPC), and client requirements
  • Conduct site assessments, field investigations, and system evaluations
  • Support construction administration, including submittal reviews, RFIs, and site visits
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and other disciplines
  • Identify opportunities for system optimization, energy efficiency, and cost savings
  • Troubleshoot system issues and provide engineering solutions for repairs or upgrades
  • Support commissioning activities and ensure proper system performance
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance staff and junior team members
  • Participate in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling
  • Assist with emergency response planning and system resilience strategies
