About The Position

ms consultants is seeking a Graduate MEP Engineer to join our growing Business Systems Business Unit in our Columbus office. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of projects while building a strong technical foundation in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. At ms consultants, you will be part of an integrated in-house team that includes architects, interior designers, MEP engineers, and structural engineers. This structure fosters meaningful collaboration and provides early-career professionals with exposure to multiple design perspectives, helping accelerate professional growth and broaden technical understanding. In this role, you will support project teams in the design and development of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across a variety of building types and markets. You will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers and project leaders who are committed to mentorship and professional development. Our Building Systems Business Unit provides architecture, engineering, and planning consulting services to a variety of commercial and public clients including financial, retail, restaurant, office, municipal and grocery. Project types range from multi-unit retail to schools, municipal facilities, fairgrounds, industrial sites, and urban redevelopment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of building systems design, including HVAC, plumbing, energy modeling, power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and fire suppression systems.
  • Proficiency with design and productivity software, including Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with applicable building codes and standards, including ICC, NEC, NFPA, and LEED guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to practical design challenges.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the production of design documents for commercial facilities across a variety of industries using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Perform preliminary engineering calculations to support design decisions related to HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, and water supply systems.
  • Collaborate and coordinate design elements with in-house disciplines, including architecture, structural engineering, site civil, and landscape architecture teams.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design discussions and contribute to integrated project solutions.
  • Develop a strong understanding of all aspects of MEP engineering through hands-on project experience and mentorship.
