About The Position

CMTA (formerly AMA Group), a Legence company, is seeking an experienced MEP Construction Superintendent for its offices in New York City and New Jersey. This mid-level role is responsible for coordinating all site construction activities and supporting/reporting to management. The position involves travel to jobsites throughout New York City, Brooklyn, Northern New Jersey, and Southern Connecticut, with limited time spent in the office. The company is known for sustainable, high-performance building systems and complex MEP/FP delivery, working with clients such as NBC Universal, Disney, NBC Sports, and A+E Networks.

Requirements

  • 1 - 4 years of experience in construction management; MEP and Interiors.
  • Working knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements/jurisdiction, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, engineering drawings and other documents.
  • Working knowledge of MS Project, MS Project Suite, PlanGrid/Procore.
  • Experience working on cross functional teams within different offices.
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to adapt communications; have strong verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently while managing multiple projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; OR equivalent years of related experience required.
  • Current work authorization in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising all trade and field personnel.
  • Implementing and/or improving companywide project management processes with a focus on safety.
  • Establishing site safety/site-office setup, including a logistics plan, material arrival/exit strategy, project safety requirements, and an emergency/evacuation plan.
  • Reviewing and understanding project schedules, and assisting the Project Manager in maintaining them (in MS Project format).
  • Creating Project Team & Home Page on Procore and generating a project directory.
  • Issuing subcontractor welcome letters, collecting subcontractor insurance, and communicating project safety requirements.
  • Reviewing trade scope sheets/proposals to understand each subcontractor’s scope of work.
  • Generating a list of RFIs based on drawing, scope, and job site review, and coordinating with the design team to address open RFI issues.
  • Preparing a submittal log, issuing it to subcontractors, and coordinating reviews of all submittals/shop drawings with the design team via Procore.
  • Printing and posting all required/helpful OSHA/Safety signage and permits.
  • Performing site-specific safety orientations, enforcing subcontractor weekly toolbox talks and daily huddles, and generating meeting minutes.
  • Marking up MEPs plans daily to track progress, taking daily progress photos, and issuing weekly progress reports and two-week lookaheads.
  • Managing laboring staff and recording timesheets.
  • Creating change events (CE’s) and obtaining subcontractor pricing when required.
  • Coordinating subcontractor meetings and recording meeting minutes.
  • Preparing client meeting minutes for Project Manager review and editing in Procore.
  • Generating close out and permit matrix.
  • Organizing site clean off and removal of all material.
