About The Position

Sinai Health is seeking a Menu Clerk to join our Nutrition department at Mount Sinai Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for handling staff and patient inquiries, taking messages, processing patient diet information using CERNER and CBORD systems, entering menu selections, ensuring patients receive their correct menu selections, completing patient discharges and transfers, and compiling daily meal statistics. You will also perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of post-secondary diploma from an accredited educational institution
  • Minimum 40 wpm typing/keyboarding speed
  • Clinical Diet knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player in a challenging and changing environment
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently within time sensitive deadlines and under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and use judgment to problem solve
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical demands of the position in order to perform the essential duties of the job which requires sitting at a computer work station for extended periods of time, in a noisy environment with frequent interruptions
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

Nice To Haves

  • Food Safety Training certificate
  • 1 year of experience in food service in a healthcare setting
  • Experience in a health care office
  • Data entry experience
  • CBORD computer knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Answer staff/patient inquiries, give directions and information as needed
  • Take messages and relay information to the appropriate individuals
  • Process information from CERNER into CBORD diet office system
  • Process telephone and fax requests regarding patient diet information into the CBORD Diet Office Systems in an appropriate and timely fashion
  • Enter patient menu selections into the database
  • Check beltline to ensure patients receive their menu selections
  • Complete patient discharges and transfers (i.e. adds/removes patient trays)
  • Complete meal statistics daily
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required
