About The Position

This is an Extracurricular Assignment as a Mentor Teacher for 4th Grade at Buffalo Elementary School. The role involves participating in a formal beginning teacher assistance program, providing support and assistance to new teachers to help them resolve problems. This includes conducting regular classroom observations and follow-up conferences focusing on teaching techniques, classroom management, and student relationships. The mentor will also assist in identifying goals and objectives and support the self-evaluation of intern teachers.

Requirements

  • Five (5) Years Teaching Experience
  • Must Participate In Training Program
  • Master’s Degree And/Or Previous Advanced Training In Teacher Effectiveness
  • Willingness To Assist New Teachers And Perform Assigned Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a formal beginning teacher assistance program.
  • Help resolve problems of beginning teachers through assistance and support.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and follow-up conferences concerning teaching techniques, classroom management skills, and improved relationships with students.
  • Assist with identifying goals and objectives.
  • Assist with self-evaluation of intern teacher.
  • Attend monthly support team meetings.
  • Complete a log book.
  • Provide ongoing support and assistance to new employees.
  • Be located in the same programmatic level and building as the intern, if possible.
