About The Position

This is a hybrid position of Mental Performance Coach and Program Therapist. Provide clinically based sport and performance psychological services to patients participating in the athlete track. Tasks include oversight of performance enhancement/mental skills training with athletes, facilitating athlete track psycho-education groups, outreach to athletic departments and other organizations of interest, creation and delivery of athlete track presentations to the EDCare and broader community, research and development of resources and materials pertaining to the athlete track, and participation in weekly team meetings to address patient and program needs. Conducts groups for other programs, facilitates meals and meal processing, documentation, and encouraging a therapeutic milieu.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in behavioral health field or equivalent experience in an active doctoral program required.
  • Specialization in Sport and Performance Psychology required.
  • Previous clinical training related to counseling and crisis management required.
  • Previous experience working with athletes in an athletic/performance setting required.
  • Good oral and written communication skills preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively maneuver within an office scheduling system.
  • Minimum of intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical conceptualization of the treatment of eating disorders and dual diagnosis preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees performance enhancement/mental skills training with athletes.
  • Attends athletes’ training sessions.
  • Manages athletes’ training schedules by working closely with EDCare’s strength & conditioning staff.
  • Facilitates athlete track groups with expertise, demonstrating ability to engage, set limits, and monitor the group process.
  • Maintains and develops group curriculum for athlete track groups.
  • Conducts outreach to athletic departments and other organizations as needed.
  • Creates and delivers presentations pertaining to the athlete track to the EDCare and broader communities.
  • Attends and contributes in weekly athlete track meetings, staffings, and clinical meetings.
  • Conducts research to inform athlete track program development and evaluations.
  • Conducts research pertaining to needs assessments for athletic departments/athletic organizations.
  • Maintains presence and availability for patient requests and needs; provides outreach to patients when necessary.
  • Timely completion and accuracy of clinical paperwork: progress notes, group notes, etc.
  • Facilitates meals with patients in a fashion consistent with current policies and procedures; eats and models appropriate eating behaviors during assigned mealtimes with patients.
  • Contributes clinical information and observations about patients in weekly staffing.
  • Facilitates integration of new patients into the program by demonstrating knowledge of all aspects of the clinical program.
  • Thoroughly integrate new patients into the program via orientation, demonstrating knowledge of all aspects of the clinical program, when needed.
  • Facilitates groups as approved and supervised, demonstrating ability to engage, set limits and monitor the group process, when/if deemed competent.
  • Is present and available for patient requests and needs; provides outreach to patients when necessary.
  • Maintains daily program structure.
  • Ensures completion of daily attendance sheet for billing purposes.
  • Takes responsibility for opening and/or closing the facility.
  • Transport patients to and from programming and on outings when needed, via 15 passenger van.
