Under the direction and supervision of the RN, LVN or Charge RN, the Mental Health Worker (MHW) assists licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living. The MHW supports unit functions, maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers, and functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team, communicating pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. The role involves performing clerical duties as assigned and providing basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients, adhering to Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy, and state regulatory and accrediting requirements. For the Outpatient setting, under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing, RN, and Program Director, the MHW carries out the activities of daily living program and individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients.
