About The Position

The Mental Health Worker at Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital (BBHH) is a crucial role responsible for providing basic nursing care, assisting patients with activities of daily living, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. Working under the supervision of the Charge Nurse and Lead Mental Health Worker, this position is the primary caregiver for patients throughout their shift, adhering to their scope of practice. This is an hourly, non-exempt, overtime-eligible position with a starting wage of $23.00 per hour, with annual merit increases based on evaluations. A shift differential is applied for night shift positions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current CPR certification (or obtained prior to start date)
  • Completion of 'Handle-With-Care' Physical Restraint Technique Training during orientation
  • At least 6 months of experience focused on human behavior, psychiatry, psychology, social services, and related fields (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic nursing care to patients.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
  • Serve as the primary caregiver to patients throughout their shift, within the job modifications and work restrictions outlined by their scope of practice.
