As our Mental Health Worker, you will help patients receive basic care, observations, and custodial care so they can maintain their well-being and progress in their treatment. Everyday you will perform basic patient care and observations. You will be expected to adhere to hospital policies and procedures under the supervision of a licensed nurse. To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Community Hospital of San Bernardino and its Core Values, supporting its strategic plan and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year Mental Health Worker experience working with psychiatric patients either in an inpatient, residential, outpatient setting or comparable equivalent
  • Certified Nursing Assistant: CA or Emergency Medical Technician: CA
  • AHA Basic Life Support

Responsibilities

  • Communicates, records, and reports promptly to the licensed nursing personnel vitals, treatment results, changes in patients condition, observations, patient complaints, and other pertinent information regarding the patient.
  • Promptly answers patients requests.
  • Follow-up on patient care responsibilities and assignments left from previous shift and reports to team leader any incomplete assignments to ensure continuity of care.
  • Performs direct patient care activities for specific patient population according to established policies and procedures; adapts techniques to unique needs of each patient.
  • Responsible for the cleaning and organizing patient room, clothing and belongings.
  • Maintains supplies in a safe and efficient manner and reports maintenance and repairs as needed.
