Mental Health Worker
About The Position
Liberty Healthcare operates a 10-bed acute psychiatric stabilization unit serving adults who are justice-involved and experiencing acute mental illness. The unit admits and treats patients under involuntary civil commitment and provides individualized assessment and treatment interventions aimed at achieving psychiatric stability as soon as clinically appropriate. Services are trauma-informed and rooted in the recovery model. The position is onsite at the Maguire Correctional Facility, a San Mateo County jail in Redwood City, California. This is a part-time overnight position, scheduled from 10:45 pm to 7:00 am. There is some flexibility to work one, two, or a few days each week, depending on staffing needs and availability. Pay is $30.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Experience supporting people who are experiencing mental illness.
Nice To Haves
- A bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related human services field is preferred.
- Experience working in a jail, prison, psychiatric hospital, mental health setting, or human services program is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patient activity and behavior.
- Document therapeutic interventions, observations, and treatment in medical records.
- Manage aggressive patient behaviors through appropriate intervention techniques.
- Promote a positive therapeutic milieu.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients.
- Collaborate with other mental health professionals and jail security staff.
