Mental Health Worker
About The Position
Under the direction and supervision of the RN, LVN or Charge RN, the Mental Health Worker assists licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living. The role supports unit functions, maintains a safe and clean environment, and acts as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team, communicating pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. Responsibilities include performing clerical duties as assigned and providing basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients within the guidelines of Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy, and state regulatory and accrediting requirements. For the Outpatient setting, under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nursing, RN, and Program Director, the Mental Health Worker carries out activities of daily living programs and individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients.
Requirements
- Must have current and valid license as a Certified Nursing Assistant issued by the State if a CNA.
- BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
Nice To Haves
- A minimum of one year experience working as Mental Health Worker in a hospital setting preferred.
- One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred.
- Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred.
Responsibilities

- Functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicates pertinent patient information to the supervising RN.
- Performs some clerical duties as assigned.
- Provides basic nursing care for the adult and geriatric patients.
- Performs responsibilities within the guidelines of the Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.
- Carries out activities of daily living program and individual treatment plans for the psychiatric patients (Outpatient setting).
