The Mental Health Worker provides therapeutic interventions for clients and participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. This role involves carrying out client treatment interventions in accordance with individualized treatment plans, observing and documenting client behavioral and physical response to therapeutic interventions, and interacting with clients in ways that take into account age-related and specialized educational, developmental, and psychiatric needs of the population served. The position also includes leading and co-leading client groups, assisting in behavioral client interventions, monitoring the milieu to identify and eliminate hazards, providing client orientation to the unit, and inventorying/safeguarding client belongings. Additionally, the Mental Health Worker collects and records vital signs and client data, utilizes approved physical intervention techniques, provides and assists with physical escorts, restraints, and seclusions, conducts searches, and demonstrates understanding of de-escalation and therapeutic communication techniques. The role also involves providing transport for clients and coordinating client movement through the facility for various appointments and activities, with a strong focus on personal, patient/client, and unit/staff safety.
