About The Position

The Mental Health Worker (MHW) will work directly under the supervision of a Mental Health Professional. The MHW is responsible for providing direct care, support, and evidence-based interventions within one of Glade Run’s licensed outpatient clinics and/or school-based sites. Outpatient Counseling may include: Individual, family, and group therapy for a variety of mental health needs. The MHW collaborates with clinicians, treatment teams, and external providers to support the delivery of quality care. The Serenity Room (Mindfulness Room) provides a safe supportive space where students can practice mindfulness, manage stress, and build healthy coping skills. The MHW in this location manages the room, guides the students in stress-reduction techniques, and promotes emotional well-being in alignment with Glade Run’s Sanctuary Model. In addition to leading groups and providing individual activities, the MHW connects students to further resources as needed.

Requirements

Has a bachelor's degree from a college or university that is accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the CHEA in a recognized clinical discipline including social work, psychology, nursing, rehabilitation or activity therapies.
Has graduate degree in a clinical discipline with 12 graduate-level credits in mental health or counseling from a program that is accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education or the CHEA.
Has an equivalent degree from a foreign college or university that has been evaluated by the AICE or the NACES.
Has completed a clinical practicum in mental health or counseling setting and has completed a course in Theories in Practice or another related course.
Must have acceptable PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse History clearance, and FBI Clearance and Act 168 forms.
Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to accept supervision.
Must have a minimum of two hours of supervision per month (1 of which, must be individual).
Must demonstrate strong emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, empathy, and interpersonal skills to effectively lead, support staff, and manage complex social dynamics.
Must possess and demonstrate emotional stability to perform essential job functions.
Must have audio/visual/verbal acuity to provide supervision for the clients and to perform essential job functions.
Must complete and pass Agency Crisis Intervention training and implement interventions when necessary.
Frequently required to stand, reach with hands and arms, use verbal communication; frequently required to stoop, kneel or crouch; lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care, support, and evidence-based interventions.
Collaborate with clinicians, treatment teams, and external providers.
Manage the Serenity Room, guiding students in stress-reduction techniques and promoting emotional well-being.
Lead groups and provide individual activities.
Connect students to further resources as needed.
Create a welcoming and calming atmosphere utilizing therapeutic techniques and best practices centering around Dialectical Behavioral techniques, Mindfulness, Anxiety coping skills, behavior modification techniques, and open communication for students in a K-12 setting.
Promote sanctuary principles within the setting to transfer skills to students who are utilizing the space.
Track and monitor Serenity Room usage, identifying and triaging youth who are at-risk and may benefit from additional referrals and resources.
Communicate with school, SAP, and families to coordinate and support youth.
Carry a small caseload of youth who have had an intake and admitted into the Glade Run Outpatient/School Based program.
Conduct symptom scales, psychosocial assessments, releases and consents, informed consent, and treatment planning.
Complete clinical file documentation in a timely manner.
Maintain case documentation according to DHS requirements.
Collect data and complete monthly reports that are forwarded to referring sources outlining the participants progress and attendance in the program as well as contributes to outcome reporting for Annual reports and various stakeholders.
Consult with psychiatrists, other involved program areas or providers on a regular basis to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
Attend at least 1 Psychiatric Treatment team supervision one time per quarter at minimum.
Attend departmental and professional training, workshop and conferences to ensure best practices.
Attend regularly scheduled supervisory sessions with clinical supervisor and psychiatrist.
Present/Review case files as required by supervisor.
Complete the agency's orientation and keep up to date with personnel and training requirements.
