About The Position

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking experienced Mental Health Therapy Aides to support a Children and Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Unit in Syracuse, NY. This role involves providing direct and indirect patient care in an acute behavioral health setting, ensuring patient safety, therapeutic engagement, and support with daily care needs under nursing supervision. Candidates must have prior psychiatric experience; pediatric behavioral health experience is strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting ( 2 years preferred )
  • Psychiatric experience required
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal orientation
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Availability for night shifts, every other weekend, and selected holidays

Nice To Haves

  • pediatric experience preferred
  • Prior inpatient healthcare experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care in an acute inpatient behavioral health setting
  • Accurately obtain and document vital signs
  • Assist with patient admissions, documentation, and unit orientation
  • Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene and mobility
  • Monitor and document patient intake and output
  • Collect specimens and assist with physical examinations as directed
  • Safely transport patients within the facility
  • Establish therapeutic relationships under nursing supervision
  • Engage patients in structured therapeutic activities
  • Observe, document, and report patient behaviors and responses to treatment
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations and advocate for patient safety
  • Perform assigned safety checks and maintain a secure environment
  • Apply age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate interventions
  • Document care using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Support unit operations and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff
