About The Position

Mental Health Therapists perform all functions of a campus comprehensive counseling center team member in a multi-disciplinary setting. Mental Health Therapists provide individual and group therapy while also engaging with the campus community via outreach and consultation services with faculty, staff, students, and families around mental health concerns. Mental Health Therapists in the center may also provide training/supervision for graduate students in the center’s training programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree
  • Licensed or license eligible as a Mental Health Service Provider in the State of Tennessee as a Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Marriage and Family Therapist, or other clinical license.
  • May be pre-licensed professional willing to work under clinical supervision.
  • Experience providing psychotherapeutic or counseling services including short-term individual, couple, and group counseling modalities.
  • Experience managing mental health crises including assessment of suicidal and homicidal risk.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.
  • Ability to assess and intervene with students in emotional crisis
  • Ability to provide individual and group counseling/psychotherapy
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision of psychology students in training
  • Ability to provide outreach programming on topics related to college student mental health
  • Ability to provide consultation concerning college student mental health
  • Ability to fulfill job functions in a culturally competent manner

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral Degree
  • 2 years of post-graduate experience providing mental health services, independently licensed in a mental health field.
  • Sufficient number of years post-license to provide clinical supervision in relevant sub discipline.
  • LCSW, LCMHC-HSP, LMFT or license-eligible in Tennessee

Responsibilities

  • Approximately 65 percent of workload is direct clinical service via client care or clinical supervision, with the remainder focused on documentation, administration, meetings, outreach, or teaching training seminars.
  • Provide individual and group therapy.
  • Engage with the campus community via outreach and consultation services with faculty, staff, students, and families around mental health concerns.
  • Provide training/supervision for graduate students in the center’s training programs.
