About The Position

Devereux Children’s Behavioral Health Center (DCBHC) is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) for its Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital in Malvern, PA. This role involves working with children and adolescents experiencing acute psychiatric crises in a safe and compassionate inpatient environment. The MHT will establish and maintain therapeutic rapport, assist, support, and instruct individuals in self-help, coping skills, and positive behavioral interventions as outlined in their clinical treatment plan. The position offers opportunities for professional growth in behavioral health and human services, specialized training, and the chance to teach youth valuable life skills while being a positive role model. Requirements

  • High school diploma and two years of direct care experience OR a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with at least twelve credit hours in a human services discipline (e.g., psychology, sociology, social work, education, pastoral counseling, political science, health, recreation, criminal justice, counseling).
  • Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.
  • Must be available every other weekend.
  • Must be able to attend orientation for 1 week, Monday-Friday from 9 am-5 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of individuals being worked with.
  • Engage in daily activities such as Recreational and Social Activities that enhance social skill development.
  • Address and redirect inappropriate behavior of individuals being worked with.
  • Implement treatment plan goals and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain a therapeutic rapport with adolescents.
  • Assist, support, and instruct individuals in self-help, coping skills, and positive behavioral interventions.
